Biography

Mr Espeed Khoshbin is a distinguished consultant cardiac surgeon at Royal Brompton and Harefield hospitals, specialising in heart and lung transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. With extensive expertise in advanced surgical therapies, Mr Khoshbin delivers exceptional care in a wide range of complex cardiac and thoracic procedures, from coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) to left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation.

Biography
Mr. Khoshbin earned his MB ChB from Aberdeen Medical School and later completed a postgraduate research doctorate (MD) at the University of Leicester. He began his cardiac surgery training at St Mary’s Hospital in London as part of the East Thames rotation and achieved the Fellowship of The Surgical Royal Colleges of Great Britain and Ireland (FRCS CTh). Recognised for his excellence in the field, Mr. Khoshbin was appointed to the UK's prestigious National Peri-CCT Fellowship in cardiothoracic transplantation.

Furthering his global expertise, he was awarded a travelling scholarship by the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation, enabling him to advance his training at UCLA in California.

Mr. Khoshbin is also a dedicated educator, serving as the national lead for heart and lung transplant education, the local lead for cardiac surgical training, and an examiner for the European and UK cardiac surgery boards. He is the NHS lead for organ utilisation at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals, underscoring his commitment to advancing transplantation practices.

Research Interests
Mr. Khoshbin is an active researcher with a doctorate (MD) in extra-corporeal mechanical circulatory support. He has led randomised controlled trials in cardiac surgery and contributes to both clinical and laboratory research. His interests extend to education research and the integration of artificial intelligence in cardiac surgery.
