Biography
Dr Fahim Haider Jafary is a graduate of the prestigious Aga Khan University Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. After graduation, he proceeded to the United States for his post-graduate training, starting with his Internship and Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. Dr Jafary then did his Cardiology as well as Interventional Cardiology fellowship at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and is one of the few US-trained, fully board certified specialists in Singapore.
Dr Jafary is also certified by the Certification Boards of Nuclear Cardiology and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions. In addition to his licensure in Singapore, Dr Jafary is also registered to practice medicine in the United Kingdom, and the states of Wisconsin, Arizona, Indiana, Alaska, Washington, Texas and Idaho.
Currently, Dr Jafary is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Cardiology and until very recently was also Director of the Nuclear Cardiology & Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (CT) laboratories at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
As a board certified interventionalist, Dr. Jafary performs cardiovascular interventions including angioplasty and stenting as a matter of routine. He is a high-volume operator and has a special interest in performing complex high-risk coronary interventions including but not limited to the use of intracoronary imaging, atherectomy and mechanical cardiac support. Besides this, he also has a very keen interest in preventive cardiology and cardiovascular screening. He is a strong believer in the use of imaging for early detection of coronary artery disease and implementation of preventive strategies to retard disease progression.
Dr Jafary has a long history of involvement with academic activities. He has spent a career in academia and teaching, has been a coinvestigator on multiple clinical studies and has published over 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Jafary has also has lectured extensively and is a reviewer for several international cardiology journals.
