Professor Loubani has been a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since April 2009. He is deeply involved in medical education and research, holding numerous influential roles. From August 2013 to August 2015, he served as Associate Director of Clinical Studies for Hull York Medical School. He was the Foundation Training Programme Director for North Yorkshire and East Coast Foundation School from August 2009 to July 2014. Additionally, he held the position of Deputy and then Director of Medical Education at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust from July 2014 to January 2018. Professor Loubani has been a member of the HYMS Student Fitness to Practice Committee (January 2018 to February 2020) and remains a member of the Board of Studies.
As the Director of Surgical Research and Development at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, he served from January 2018 to April 2021. He was also the Clinical Research Network Lead for Surgery at the NIHR Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and the Humber from October 2014 to March 2019. His academic roles include being an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Hull York Medical School from January 2010 to October 2015 and an Honorary Professor since November 2015.
Professor Loubani is a council member of the Hull Medical Society and served as its President from May 2019 to May 2021.
