Biography

Dr. Paul Williams is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, UK. Specializing in percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), he has a strong focus on advanced intracoronary imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT). He is also highly experienced in structural heart interventions, including transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and mitral valve repair (MitraClip).

Dr. Williams completed his medical education at Oxford University, earning a degree in Physiological Sciences in 1996, followed by his medical degree (BM BCh) in 1999. He furthered his expertise with a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2011, and later at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. His research interests include innovative techniques such as gene therapy-coated coronary stents, an area in which he obtained his MD from the University of Manchester in 2011.

Since joining James Cook University Hospital in 2013, Dr. Williams has made significant contributions to the field of interventional cardiology, combining clinical practice with research to improve patient outcomes. His work is widely recognized in both clinical and academic circles, and he has several publications in cardiovascular research.
