Biography
Pierluigi Costanzo is a Consultant Interventional and Structural Cardiologist in the Department of Clinical Medicine of the Royal Papworth Hospital. He has written several scientific publications and participated in various national and international scientific meetings as a speaker.
Prior to his position at the Royal Papworth Hospital, he spent a year training at the Toronto General Hospital in Toronto, Canada, where he trained in complex percutaneous coronary intervention after being awarded the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society (BCIS) training grant. He was then spent a year at St Michael's Hospital in Toronto as a structural interventional fellow. During this time, Dr Costanzo studied TAVI, and participated in pioneering heart valve procedures.
Dr Costanzo's research interests include structural heart valve intervention innovations, long-term outcomes of coronary stenting, cardiovascular prevention, and diabetes mellitus. He is an editorial board member of Interventional Cardiology: Reviews, Research, Resources (ICR3).
