Biography

Tze-Fan Chao is an Associate Professor at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, Taiwan and attending physician at the Division of Cardiology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. He was trained in medicine and cardiology at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan.

Dr Chao’s clinical interest is cardiac electrophysiology, including implantation of permanent pacemakers, implanted cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy. His research interests are in the areas of atrial fibrillation, including epidemiology, stroke risk stratification and oral anticoagulants for stroke prevention. He has published more than 80 original articles as first, co-first or corresponding author in SCI journals including Circulation, JACC, European Heart Journal, Stroke, Chest, and etc.

Dr Chao is a member of the writing committee for the atrial fibrillation guidelines of the Taiwan Society of Cardiology/Taiwan Heart Rhythm Society and the Asia Pacific Heart Rhythm Society (APHRS). Currently, he is the chair of the APHRS practical guideline subcommittee,  section editor of “Thrombosis and Haemostasis” and senior editor of “International Journal of Clinical Practice”. He is also a reviewer for several international journals, including Circulation, JACC, EHJ, and etc. He has been invited to give lectures at important international conferences, including annual scientific meetings of AHA, ACC, ESC, and etc.

Dr Chao is a member of the Arrhythmia & Electrophysiology Review editorial board.
