Biography

At present, Professor William Wijns holds the esteemed position of SFI (Science Foundation Ireland) Professor in Interventional Cardiology at the Lambe Institute for Translational Medicine, Curam, and Saolta University Healthcare Group, National University of Ireland Galway. Additionally, he serves as the Director of the Smart Sensors Lab. Throughout his career, he has played various roles within the ESC, including Vice-President and Scientific Programme Chair, and has served as President of the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiac Intervention (EAPCI).

Professor Wijns is also Co-Director of EuroPCR, AfricaPCR and Chairman of the PCR Organisation
