Vienna, VA (May 16, 2018) — Cutting-edge views on novel therapies and risk assessment tools from prominent leaders in the field of preventive cardiology — including Peter Libby, MD, Martha Gulati, MD, Arthur Agatston, MD, Michael Davidson, MD, Kim Williams, MD, Paul Whelton, MD, and others — will feature in a one-day Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Symposium near Dallas on July 12.
The symposium is being organized at the Gaylord Resort in conjunction with the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography’s (SCCT) Annual Scientific Meeting, which starts the following day. SCCT leaders hope to widen perspectives of members and others about the context of cardiovascular CT.
“Cardiovascular CT imagers do more than read and interpret scans,” explains Ron Blankstein, MD, FSCCT, of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, who chaired the organizing committee for the Prevention Symposium. “We play a key role in applying our findings to patient care and modifying treatments to ensure patients have the best chance of preventing future cardiovascular disease”
“The Prevention Symposium will bring together an all-star team of international experts in the field of prevention, and will offer our members, cardiologists, internal medicine specialists, endocrinologists, nurse practitioners and anyone involved in cardiovascular disease prevention an ideal opportunity to gain an overview of where the field of prevention is now and where it is going,” added Dr. Blankstein.
The session was co-organized by Khurram Nasir, MD, MPH, FSCCT, Amit Khera, MD, MSc, FASPC, and Parag Joshi, MD, MHS. It is co-sponsored by the American Society of Preventive Cardiology and endorsed by the Texas Chapter of the American College of Cardiology.
The Gaylord Resort is located 10 minutes from Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport. The symposium takes place 8:00am – 3:30pm and includes coffee breaks and luncheon, as well as 6.5 CME credits.
Registration is free to medical students, $40 for fellows, residents, nurse practitioners, technologists and SCCT members, and $100 for nonmember physicians and others.
