Corrado Tamburino
Professor and Chief of Cardiothoracic, Transplantation and Vascular Surgery Department
Prof Corrado Tamburino is full professor of Cardiology at the University of Catania, IT. Director of the Cardiology Specialisation School and Head of Cardio-Thoraco-Vascular Department and Organ Transplant, Azienda Policlinico-Vittorio Emanuele, University of Catania.
He has published over 460 articles in journals and reported or moderated in over 460 national and international conferences. He has been attending the main international conferences of interventional cardiology as speaker and operator of live cases for years.
Operator of over 20,000 diagnostic and interventional procedures in hemodynamics with particular application in coronary angioplasty and stenting and in the treatment of heart valves diseases.

Professor of Medicine
Professor Maehara is the Director of the Intravascular Imaging Core Laboratory at the CRF Clinical Trials Center.
She is also a Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York
Javier Escaned
Head of Interventional Cardiology
Prof Javier Escaned is Head of the Interventional Cardiology Section at Hospital Clinico San Carlos (Madrid, Spain). He trained as a cardiologist in the United Kingdom (Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Birmingham and Walsgrave Hospital, Coventry) before moving to the Thoraxcenter/Rotterdam (The Netherlands), where he obtained his PhD degree in 1994.
He has authored over 300 scientific articles, books and book chapters on different aspects of interventional cardiology; his latest contribution is Coronary Stenosis. Imaging, Structure and Physiology, a large textbook endorsed by the European Association of Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions/European Society of Cardiology (EAPCI/ESC), with its latest edition published in 2015. His main interests in the field of interventional cardiology include intracoronary imaging and physiology, complex percutaneous coronary intervention including chronic total occlusion recanalisation, and acute coronary syndromes.

Nieves Gonzalo
Consultant Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Nieves Gonzalo is Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the Interventional Cardiology Department at Clinico San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid.
She obtained her Specialist Certification in Cardiology after training at Clinico San Carlos University Hospital in Madrid. Subsequently, she underwent a research fellowship at Thoraxcenter, Erasmus University Rotterdam (The Netherlands) under the supervision of Professor Patrick Serruys, focused mainly in intracoronary imaging and bioabsorbable stents.
In 2010 she obtained her PhD with the thesis “Optical coherence tomography for the assessment of coronary atherosclerosis and vessel response after stent implantation".
Luca Testa
Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Testa is an Interventional Cardiologist working at the IRCCS Policinico San Donato in San Donato, Milan, Italy.
He is Head of the Coronary Revascularization Unit as well as of the Clinical Research Unit.
His areas of research range from platelet aggregation, intracoronary imaging and physiology related to structural heart disease, particularly the TAVI.
He is also particularly interested and involved in the development of new interventional devices. He has a National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor in Cardiovascular and Respiratory disease, and as Associate Professor in Health Sciences and Applied Medical Technology. Antonio Colombo
Director, Cardiac Cath Lab and Interventional Cardiology Unit
Personal History
Dr Colombo was born in Busto Arsizio, Italy on June 17, 1950.7 After completing his schooling in Gallarate, he went on to the University of Milan School of Medicine in 1968, before attending the University of Parma Postgraduate School to study Cardiovascular Medicine. From a young age, he was a gifted student; and ultimately graduated Summa Cum Laude from his medical school.7
In 1967, Dr Colombo’s love of travel took him all the way to Iran in his Volkswagen (which he affectionately named “Maggiolino”).5 In 1986, he opened a private centre based on his innovative ideas after feeling ostracised by the academic environment.5 At the American College of Cardiology Scientific Session in 2012, Dr Colombo was dubbed a “Legend in Cardiovascular Disease.”2

Interventional Cardiologist
Dr Roberto Garbo is an Interventional Cardiologist at Maria Pia Hospital, Turin, IT. He has been an Interventional Cardiologist since 1999.
He was Head of the Cath Lab at San Giovanni Bosco Hospital from 2005- 2020, director of the CTO PCI, CHIP and complex PCI programmes over the last 15 years.
He has operated more than 2,200 CTO PCI, of which 1,100 with retrograde approach.

Prof Robert Byrne is Director of Cardiology at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin, and Chair of Cardiovascular Research at the Royal College of Surgeons.
He is also head of the Cardiovascular Research Institut(CVRI Dublin) which is a collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). Its research focus is on Outcomes Research, Clinical Trials, Core Laboratory and Systematic Reviews.
Prof Robert Byrne's internship and general medical training was in the Mater Hospital, Dublin and Mayo Clinic, Arizona. His Cardiology fellowship was in Ireland and at the German Heart Centre, Munich, Germany.
