In this video, Dr Harriette Van Spall (McMaster University, CA) and Prof Roxana Mehran (Mount Sinai Hospital, US) meet at AHA 2019 to discuss the challenges and barriers women face in the competitive field of clinical trials and research, as well as the gender gap in cardiology and the importance of role models. They highlight the changes needed to processes and leadership to ensure more women feature in clinical trials both as patients and clinicians. They also touch on the importance of the organisation, Women as One, led by Roxana Mehran to ensure that equal opportunity is common place in cardiology.
