Overview

In this video series, first presented at the ESC Congress 2023 held in Amsterdam, Prof Roxana Mehran, Dr Antoinette Neylon, Dr Martin Swaans, Prof Raphael Rosenhek and Prof Haim Danenberg discuss the Expand II TAVR pivotal trial design and the rational for investigating the treatment of moderate aortic stenosis patients with Evolut™ TAVI, provide practical Echo imaging recommendations to improve aortic stenosis diagnosis in challenging cases, as well as presenting the latest TAVI clinical data on durability, including an outlook of new evidence to expect next and the innovative Evolut™ FX TAVI system.

More from this programme

Part 1

Welcome and Introduction

Welcome and introduction of the presenters and learning objectives by Prof Mehran and Dr Neylon.

Part 2

Treating Aortic Stenosis Earlier – What You Need to Know

Dr Swaans presents the rational for considering the treatment of moderate aortic stenosis patients and the Expand II TAVR pivotal trial design.

Part 3

Panel Discussion – Treating Aortic Stenosis Earlier – What You Need to Know

Panel discussion about moderate aortic stenosis and the challenges to identify the symptomatic patients, as well as questions about the Expand II TAVR pivotal trial design.

Part 4

Overcoming Echo Acquisition Challenges in Aortic Stenosis

Prof Rosenhek presents practical echo imaging tips on how to enhance the echo diagnosis of aortic stenosis in challenging patients.

Part 5

Panel Discussion – Overcoming Echo Acquisition Challenges in Aortic Stenosis

Panel discussion addressing questions on how to avoid the underdiagnosis of patients, especially in women and the importance of calcium scoring as well as the pencil probe to see the jet easier. Furthermore the panel discuss which patients we expect to be seeing in the Expand II TAVR pivotal trial for moderate aortic stenosis patients.

Part 6

TAVI Evolut-ion – Data and New Devices

Prof Danenberg presents hot off the press, new TAVI data including the sub analysis of the 3 year results of the Evolut Low Risk trial of patients below 75 years of age. He explains the differences of existing TAVI valve devices and how their design variances lead to equally different durability outcomes known so far. Furthermore he presents the new Evolut™ FX TAVI system and prospective TAVI data coming up.

Part 7

Panel Discussion – TAVI Evolut-ion – Data and New Devices

Panel discussion about the treatment of younger patients and which valve to consider, Prof Danenbergs’ experience with the new Evolut™ FX TAVI system and the importance of the commissural alignment and other innovations to help improve TAVI patient treatment outcomes.

Part 8

Take Home Message

Dr Neylon summarises the scientific session and shares the take home messages.
