Cracking the Code of Uncontrolled Hypertension

Dr Thomas Weber is an Austrian cardiologist. He is Deputy Director of the Cardiology Department at the Klinikum Wels-Grieskirchen, in Wels, Austria. 

His clinical interests cover interventional cardiology, heart failure and hypertension while his scientific interests are pulsatile hemodynamics, arterial stiffness, vascular aging, 24-hour hemodynamics, heart failure, coronary artery disease, hypertension, aortic disease and renal denervation.

During his scientific career, he has authored 80 original articles, 61 review articles, 15 editorials, 14 international and national guidelines and consensus papers and 10 book chapters.

Prof Alta Schutte is a Professor and Principal Theme Lead of Cardiac, Vascular and Metabolic Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at UNSW Sydney, Australia; with a joint appointment as Professorial Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health. 

Prof Schutte has extensive experience in working in clinical and population-based studies with a focus on raised blood pressure, hypertension and cardiovascular disease and is involved in numerous international consortia, such as the Global Burden of Disease study, the NCD Risk Factor Collaboration and the May Measurement Month initiative of the International Society of Hypertension. Her expertise includes the management of hypertension and monitoring of raised blood pressure. Actions and interventions to improve blood pressure control and the detection, treatment and control of hypertension.

Bryan Williams is Chair of Medicine at UCL and Chief Scientific and Medical Officer at the British Heart Foundation. He is also a Consultant Physician at University College London Hospitals (UCLH) where he was previously Director of the NIHR UCLH/UCL Biomedical Research Centre and Director of Research for UCLH (2014-2023).

Prof Williams research and specialist clinical practice is in the field of hypertension in which he is recognised as one of the world's leading authorities and is credited with driving changes in clinical practice globally. Prof John M Flack is the Sergio Rabinovich Endowed Chair of Internal Medicine and the Professor and Chair of the Department of Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Springfield, US.
