Overview
e-SPACE Cardio-Renal-Metabolic 2023 was the third edition of the annual global online conference that explores how leading experts, in cardiology, nephrology, and diabetology, are treating the interrelated diseases.
Course leadership Prof Stefan Anker (Berlin, DE), Dr Javed Butler (Texas, US), Prof Antonio Ceriello (Milan, IT), Prof Tara I Chang (California, US), Prof Ian de Boer (Washington, US), Prof Peter Rossing (Copenhagen, DK) and Prof Shelley Zieroth (Winnipeg, CA) lead an interactive programme of plenary sessions, meet the expert, case discussions and satellite symposium sessions focusing on the patient journey.
For the first time, e-SPACE Cardio-Renal-Metabolic 2023 brought together TMA’s mandate for the delivery of continuing professional development to healthcare professionals to achieve concordance with appropriate treatment plans, alongside KDIGO's mission to improve the care and outcomes of patients with kidney disease worldwide through the development and implementation of global clinical practice guidelines, with Radcliffe Cardiology’s goal to deliver cardiovascular knowledge to best support cardiovascular communities transform theory into practice.
Learning Objectives
- Review the burden of diabetes, kidney disease and heart failure including morbidity, excess mortality, and reduced quality of life affecting individuals around the world
- Describe the complexity and interlink between the three conditions
- Discuss existing guidelines and best approaches for screening patients
- Review evidence-based management strategies for diabetes, cardiovascular disease, heart failure, kidney disease & obesity including SLGT2i, GLP-1RA, new non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists and other emerging therapies
- Foster cross-collaboration between other cardiorenal / metabolic specialists and primary care physicians and allied health care professionals in order to improve patients outcomes

Fausto J Pinto
Professor of Cardiology
Fausto J Pinto, MD, PhD, FESC, FACC, FASE, FSCAI, is a Professor of Cardiology at Lisbon University Medical School and a Senior Consultant at the University Hospital of Santa Maria. He also serves as Director of the Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute. Professor Pinto serves or has served as President of the Association for Research and Development of the Faculty of Medicine (2004–2010), Chairman of the Congress Programme Committee of the European Society of Cardiology (2008–2010), President and Founder of the European Association of Echocardiography (2002–2004), and Councillor of the European Society of Cardiology (2004– 2006). In addition, he serves on the Editorial Board of several international journals and is Editor in Chief of the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology. Endocrinologist
Dr A Enrique Caballero is the Faculty Director of International Innovation Programs and Faculty Director of Diabetes Education at Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts, US. He is also an Endocrinologist, Clinical Investigator and Educator.
He is currently the Chair for the Health Care Disparities Committee at the American Diabetes Association (ADA).
His research interests include type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease prevention as well as management of diabetes in racial / ethnic minorities.
Cynthia Delgado
Nephrologist
Dr Cynthia Delgado is a Nephrologist at University of California, California, US.
In January 2023 she was the recipient of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF) Garabed Eknoyan Award.
Her interests include addressing the burden of kidney disease and improving life quality of these patients.
Ambarish Pandey
Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine
Dr Ambarish Pandey is an Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Texas, US.
He obtained his medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, India and fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center (2014-2018).
Dr Pandey specialises in preventive cardiology and heart failure with preserved ejection fraction.
He is a member of the American Heart Association (AHA), where he serves on several committees, including the Scientific Sessions Planning Committee and the Epidemiology Early Career Committee.
