Overview

Navigating the Hybrid Approach and Optimising Patient Outcomes is a comprehensive video series designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the field of hybrid ablation therapy. This innovative series will provide insights into patient criteria, enabling healthcare professionals to identify suitable candidates for this cutting-edge treatment and the procedural process for hybrid ablation emphasising the optimisation of patient outcomes.

This programme is supported by an educational grant from AtriCure.

Learning Objectives

  • Select appropriate patients for hybrid ablation therapy and recognise the importance timely referral
  • Describe an expert-led, step-by-step procedural process for hybrid ablation
  • Develop an expert-guided approach to managing complex cases and optimising patient outcomes
  • Recall on-going research and advancements in hybrid ablation

Target Audience

  • Electrophysiologist
  • Cardiothoracic Surgeons
  • General Cardiologists
  • Physicians referring to Electrophysiologists

More from this programme

Part 1

Overview and Introduction to Hybrid

In this chapter, Dr. Ashan Syed and Dr. Claudio Tondo kick off the series by providing an introductory overview to hybrid ablation in clinical practice. They discuss minimally invasive techniques, personalised treatment plans and success rates.

Part 2

Patient Referral and Selection

In this chapter, Dr. Ashan Syed and Dr. Andreu Porta-Sánchez discuss the patient referral and selection process for the hybrid approach. They cover patient characteristics in major trial data, which patients they select as candidates in their own practice and targeting the left atrial appendage at the same time in the hybrid approach

Part 3

Procedural Workflow

In this chapter, Dr. Ashan Syed and Dr. Ashley Nisbet discuss procedural workflow, detailing the step-by-step process.

Part 4

Optimising Patient Outcomes and Future Direction

In this chapter, patient successes are demonstrated through personalised treatment plans, holistic approaches, and patient education. The faculty discuss data analytics and machine learning improves outcome prediction accuracy, while emphasising post-procedural care enhances overall success rates.

Part 5

Managing the Most Complex Cases

In this chapter, Prof Mark La Meir discusses his approach to complex cases of long standing atrial fibrillation and the importance of both epicardial and endocardial involvement. Prof La Meir and Dr Ahsan then close by discussing the future of hybrid ablation therapy.
