AHA 22 - CardioNerds Fellow, Dr Saahil A Jumkhawala (Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, US) is joined by investigator, Dr Petr Ostadal (Na Homolce Hospital, CZ) to talk about the ECMO-CS trial (NCT02301819).

In the ECMO-CS trial 122 patients with rapidly deteriorating or severe cardiogenic shock were randomized to receive veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) or early conservative therapy according to standard practice.

The trial showed that Immediate implementation of ECMO  did not improve clinical outcomes in this patient population.
