Faculty Biographies
Justin E Davies
Dr Justin Davies is a Senior Research Fellow and Consultant Cardiologist at Imperial College London. He also completed his undergraduate training and continued on to complete his PhD at Imperial after being awarded a British Heart Foundation research fellowship.
Now a leading clinical academic in the field of interventional cardiology, Dr Davies has pioneered several new techniques, including coronary wave intensity and instantaneous wave-free ratio (iFR). He is also published extensively in the field of hypertension and coronary and large artery physiology.
Faisal Sharif
Faisal Sharif is the Professor of Translational Cardiovascular Medicine and Innovation at National University of Ireland Galway and an Interventional Cardiologist at the Saolta Group, Galway University Hospital. He is also an Executive Director of BioInnovate Ireland, a multi disciplinary programme for novel medical device innovation. His research predominantly focuses on medical device innovation and clinical translation of novel medical devices and concepts for cardiovascular diseases.

Roland E Schmieder is a Professor of Internal Medicine, Nephrology and Hypertension, Head of the Clinical Research Centre and Vice Chair of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University Hospital Erlangen, Germany. He also directs the Institute of Preventative Medicine at the University Erlangen-Nuremberg and the Community Hospital Nuremberg. Roland is a member of numerous professional societies and committees, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He is on the international Editorial Board of the American Journal of Hypertension, the Journal of Human Hypertension and the Journal of Nephrology, among other scientific journals. Professor Schmieder received his post-graduate medical training in nephrology, cardiology and hypertension at the University Hospital of Bonn, and then at the Alton Ochsner Foundation, New Orleans. Prof Ribichini is an interventionalist dedicated to vascular angioplaties, valvular replacement and congenital intervention.
Isabella Sudano
Specialist in Internal Medicine with special training in hypertension and dyslipidemia and a genuine passion for preventive medicine; lecturer at the University of Zürich and PhD in cardiovascular research. Head of the hypertension and dyslipidemia facilities of the heart center and of the smoking cessation clinic of the university Hospital Zurich. Her research focuses on vascular research (endothelial function in micro- as well as macrocirculation, vascular compliance and atherosclerotic changes of the carotid artery). Actual president of the Swiss Society of Hypertension, Member of the Board of the swiss working group on lipid and atherosclerosis, FESC and Nucleus Member of the Hypertension Council of the European Society of Cardiology.
