Overview

Rhythm Interventions Online (RIO) is a new innovative virtual event that brought together a leading international faculty to create a rich, interactive experience to best inform the global electrophysiology community of the latest developments and advances in clinical practice.

 

Led by Course Director, Prof Richard Schilling, Barts Heart Centre, London, and delivered through a crafted programme of discussion, opinion, and live cases from leading international centres, RIO's programme comprised twelve hours of best-in-class learning over three days, in addition to symposia and breakout sessions.

Devi Nair

Devi Nair

Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology

Dr Devi Nair is a cardiologist and the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at St Bernard's Heart and Vascular Center in Arkansas, US. She also holds the position of Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. As an international leader in cardiac rhythm management, Dr Nair specialises in cardiac devices and cardiac ablation therapy.

Dr Nair has made significant contributions to the field through her numerous publications in leading international medical journals. Her extensive medical training began at the University of Kerala, India, followed by residencies at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and St Luke's Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, US. She further honed her expertise with fellowships at Case Western Reserve University, US.

Richard Schilling

Richard Schilling

Consultant Cardiologist

Prof Schilling has been a consultant cardiologist at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London NHS trust since 2001. He was appointed as chair in cardiology and electrophysiology in 2009. His current practice involves all aspects of electrophysiology and management of cardiac arrhythmia including catheter ablation, implantation of pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure patients.

Prof Schilling was part of the team that lead the merger of the Heart and Barts hospitals which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is the Strategy Director for Barts Hospital, the Medical Director for the Arrhythmia Alliance and President-Elect for the British Heart Rhythm Society.

Vivek Reddy

Director of Cardiac Arrhythmia Services

Dr Vivek Y. Reddy is Director of Cardiac Arrhythmia Services for The Mount Sinai Hospital and Director of Electrophysiology for the Mount Sinai Health System, and The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust Professor of Medicine in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

Dr Reddy is one of the US's premier cardiac electrophysiologists. He leads a team of physician-scientists who are developing and testing advanced therapies for cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure, including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, and device therapies for stroke prevention. Under his leadership, Mount Sinai is the lead investigational site for many multinational clinical trials exploring new arrhythmia procedures and technologies, most recently pulsed field ablation to treat atrial fibrillation. Andrea Russo

Andrea Russo

Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology and Arrythmia Service

Dr Russo is Director of Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Services at Cooper University Hospital, Director of the CCEP Fellowship Program and Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. She has served on numerous HRS committees and task forces and is a member of the Heart Rhythm Journal editorial board. In addition, she has served as co-chair or member on several guideline, consensus document or Appropriate Use Criteria writing groups.

Dr Russo received her medical degree from Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York. She did her residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and her fellowship training at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Cooper Hospital. Areas of special interest include sex differences in arrhythmias, implantable cardioverter defibrillators, totally subcutaneous devices, atrial fibrillation therapy, and the role of digital health on arrhythmia management.
