Overview
Rhythm Interventions Online 2022 – one of the leading practical education broadcasts in electrophysiology – took place 30 November – 2 December 2022.
Bringing together a faculty of over 40 key opinion leaders, seven case centres from both sides of the Atlantic and a global audience of over 2,500 delegates, RIO 2022 delivered best-in-class education curated to support practical learning and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.
With practice at its core, RIO again presented challenging and complex live cases from centres of excellence, alongside hot topics, presentations and debate from electrophysiologists at the forefront of practice and global innovation.

Following the huge success of December’s Rhythm Interventions Online 2022, here the event’s Course Leadership revisit select live cases they performed during the three-day event. These engaging six-month post-procedure retrospectives provide great insight to the case outcomes and procedural learnings, further enriched by tips, tricks and experiences shared in the associated panel discussions.
Faculty Biographies
Richard Schilling
Consultant Cardiologist
Prof Schilling has been a consultant cardiologist at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London NHS trust since 2001. He was appointed as chair in cardiology and electrophysiology in 2009. His current practice involves all aspects of electrophysiology and management of cardiac arrhythmia including catheter ablation, implantation of pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure patients.
Prof Schilling was part of the team that lead the merger of the Heart and Barts hospitals which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is the Strategy Director for Barts Hospital, the Medical Director for the Arrhythmia Alliance and President-Elect for the British Heart Rhythm Society.
Prof Schilling is a member of the AER editorial board.
Jacob S Koruth
Jacob Koruth is Associate Professor of Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, US. Dr Koruth clinical focus includes cardiac catheter cryoablation, electrocardiogram, ventricular tachycardia and cardiomyopathy.
Helmut Pürerfellner
Head EP Department
Dr Pürerfellner is Head EP department at Ordensklinikum Linz Elisabethinen.
He is the current International Affairs Coordinator and former Treasurer of EHRA.
Vivek Reddy
Director of Cardiac Arrhythmia Services
Dr Vivek Y. Reddy is Director of Cardiac Arrhythmia Services for The Mount Sinai Hospital and Director of Electrophysiology for the Mount Sinai Health System, and The Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust Professor of Medicine in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Dr Reddy is one of the US's premier cardiac electrophysiologists. He leads a team of physician-scientists who are developing and testing advanced therapies for cardiac arrhythmias and heart failure, including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia, and device therapies for stroke prevention. Under his leadership, Mount Sinai is the lead investigational site for many multinational clinical trials exploring new arrhythmia procedures and technologies, most recently pulsed field ablation to treat atrial fibrillation. Boris Schmidt
Dr Boris Schmidt is a Cardiologist specialising in Electrophysiology at Cardiologisches Centrum Bethanien in Frankfurt, Germany. Dr Boris Schmidt's scientific activities are focused on catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation and the development of novel single-shot technologies as well as interventional stroke prophylaxis.
KR Julian Chun
Proffessor
Prof Chun heads the electrophysiology section at CardioVascular Center Bethanien, Markus Krankenhaus in Frankfurt, Germany. He trained at the University of Lübeck and St Georg Hospital, Hamburg, Germany. He is a member of the Nucleus and Treasurer of the Arrhythmia Working Group at the German Cardiac Society. He is a faculty member at the University of Lübeck.
