Overview
Rhythm Interventions Online 2023 – one of the leading practical education broadcasts in electrophysiology – took place 30 November – 1 December 2023.
Bringing together a faculty of over 47 key opinion leaders, seven case centres from both sides of the Atlantic and a global audience of over 2,500 delegates, RIO 2023 delivered best-in-class education curated to support practical learning and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.
With practice at its core, RIO again presented challenging and complex live cases from centres of excellence, alongside hot topics, presentations and debate from electrophysiologists at the forefront of practice and global innovation.
Watch the full programme – including breakouts and symposia – on-demand here.
Watch out for further details shortly for Rhythm Interventions Online 2024.
Note, the live version of this event was CME accredited; this on-demand version is not.

Faculty Biographies
Gerhard Hindricks
Medical Director
Gerhard Hindricks is a professor of cardiology at the Charite University Hospital, Berlin, Germany. He heads one of the largest electrophysiology departments in Europe, providing services for up to 5,000 patients and performing almost 2,500 interventions for arrhythmias each year. Prof Hindricks is editor-in-chief of EUROPACE magazine, and is past president of the European Heart Rhythm Association, 2014 - 2016.
Prof Hindricks is on the AER editorial board.
Lucas Boersma
Cardiac Electrophysiologist
Prof Lucas Boersma is a cardiologist/electrophysiologist at St. Antonius Hospital Nieuwegein and a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Amsterdam, NL. In his research, Prof Lucas Boersma has primarily focused on transcatheter treatment of atrial fibrillation. Prof Lucas Boersma is the chairman of the Netherlands Society of Cardiology (NVVC) Knowledge Agenda Committee.
Prof Boersma graduated from Medical School in 1996 at the University of Maastricht. In the same year he finished his PHD on Ventricular Tachycardia in the Rabbit Heart. He completed his Cardiology specialty training in 2000 at St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein and his subspecialty training in Electrophysiology in 2001 at Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, ES. He was Head of the Cardiology Department from 2008-2016, as well as Medical Manager of the Cardiovascular Unit from 2011-2017.
Melanie Gunawardene
Melanie Gunawardene holds the position of Senior Physician specializing in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Department of Cardiology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at Asklepios Hospital St. Georg in Hamburg, Germany. Her research interests encompass Clinical Electrophysiology, with a particular focus on pioneering areas like New Ablation Strategies, Atrial Fibrillation, and Pulsed Field Ablation.
