Overview
Rhythm Interventions Online 2023 – one of the leading practical education broadcasts in electrophysiology – took place 30 November – 1 December 2023.
Bringing together a faculty of over 47 key opinion leaders, seven case centres from both sides of the Atlantic and a global audience of over 2,500 delegates, RIO 2023 delivered best-in-class education curated to support practical learning and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.
With practice at its core, RIO again presented challenging and complex live cases from centres of excellence, alongside hot topics, presentations and debate from electrophysiologists at the forefront of practice and global innovation.
Watch the full programme – including breakouts and symposia – on-demand here.
Watch out for further details shortly for Rhythm Interventions Online 2024.
Note, the live version of this event was CME accredited; this on-demand version is not.

Richard Schilling
Consultant Cardiologist
Prof Schilling has been a consultant cardiologist at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London NHS trust since 2001. He was appointed as chair in cardiology and electrophysiology in 2009. His current practice involves all aspects of electrophysiology and management of cardiac arrhythmia including catheter ablation, implantation of pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators, and cardiac resynchronization therapy for heart failure patients.
Prof Schilling was part of the team that lead the merger of the Heart and Barts hospitals which is one of the largest heart centers in Europe. He is the Strategy Director for Barts Hospital, the Medical Director for the Arrhythmia Alliance and President-Elect for the British Heart Rhythm Society.
Prof Schilling is a member of the AER editorial board.
Roderick Tung
Associate Professor of Medicine Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology
Dr Roderick Tung is a widely renowned cardiologist and specialist in cardiac electrophysiology with over 20 years of experience in medicine.
His passion for cardiology grew from undergoing an ablation procedure to correct a cardiac arrhythmia in his early 20s.
Dr Tung is affiliated with The University Of Chicago Medical Center and has authored over 200 peer-reviewed articles and participated in 8 clinical trials in the past 15 years. In particular, he has co-authored 101 articles and participated in 1 clinical trial in the study of ventricular tachycardia (VT).
Cardiology is Dr Tung’s main specialty, whilst his two subspecialties are general cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology. He is an expert in the management of heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), with a particular focus on advanced therapies for
Syed Ahsan
Dr Syed Ahsan is a Consultant Cardiologist, Barts Heart Centre, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, UK
Mark La Meir
Mark La Meir is Professor and Head of the Department Cardiac Surgery at the University Hospital Brussels, Belgium, and consultant at the Maastricht University Medical Center, The Netherlands.
He received his medical degree from Free University Brussels, and his surgical degree in 1998 from the same institution. Prof La Meir received his PhD on Hybrid treatment of atrial fibrillation from the Maastricht University Medical Center in 2012. His key specialties include minimally invasive coronary surgery, heart rhythm surgery, cardiac mapping and ablation procedures, atrial fibrillation surgery, and ventricular rhythm problems.
