In this video, Dr Kendra Grubb, surgical director of the Emory Structural Heart and Valve Center and Dr Jaffar Khan, Interventional Cardiologist, Co-inventor of BASILICA, LAMPOON and ELASTA-Clip come together to discuss Dr Khan’s recent review article on the three applications of transcatheter electrosurgery of aortic and mitral valve leaflets to enable transcatheter heart valve implantation. Dr Grubb asks Dr Khan about how we can make these novel techniques accessible for everyone. Dr Khan talks about the recent results from the BASILICA registry and addresses questions about the technical aspects of the technique. Dr Grubb shares her viewpoint as a surgeon. They discuss where LAMPOON will be the most beneficial to use. Dr Khan talks about how he works with the companies to make the devices mainstream and what the future may hold for electrosurgery.
